What others are saying…

  • In regards to our catering

“Lauren at French Gourmet helped me with my granddaughters baby shower this past week. I've given many parties in my time but this is the first time the food was so good that the guests asked for "doggie bags". Great service start to finish, reasonable price for the quality, beautiful presentation (quartered spinach quiche, mini ham sandwiches on scrumptious rolls, croissant filled with chicken salad, and mini eclairs, cream puffs and pecan macaroons) and the taste ... well, the doggie bags say it all!! This is one of those Houston traditions we sometimes forget to visit when we try out the newest fad - this reminded me once again why the French Gourmet is still in business. The only regret we have is that we didn't order more pastries so that the family had some leftovers to eat!”

  • About our cakes

“The order ahead process was seamless and the cake was delicious! We got the Italian cream sheet cake for my son's 2nd bday and they wrote a message on the cake for us as well. I was very happy with how beautiful the cake turned out and everyone raved about how good the cake tasted! I'm not a big cake person but the calories are definitely worth it for this cream cheese frosting mmmm.”

  • On our cookie selection (including GF!)

“One of my favorite bakeries in Houston! I love coming here for the cookies! The chocolate chewies and coconut macaroons are to die for!”

    - Jamie W.

“My nephew brought me a box of the cookies from this bakery-he stated that they were cranberry cookies. Did not know what to expect of the taste since most times when I purchase cookies I purchase either butter or chocolate chips cookies from a bakery. I have to say that these were absolutely delicious. He stated that they were cranberry, but they also had pecans.”

“Where King Cakes Reign Supreme in Houston”

- Eater Houston

This River Oaks bakery offers both French and New Orleans-style king cakes, properly adorned with colored beads, coins, and an ornamental baby. In New Orleans-style varieties, choose from cinnamon, cream cheese, or almond flavors, while the French-style cakes are made with almond cream-filled puff pastry.

The perfect stop…

For a little afternoon treat.

There’s a little piece of France in River Oaks if you ask visitors of the French Gourmet Bakery. The shop offers breakfast, lunch, catering and of course a variety of baked goods inspired by the French. A variety of croissants, quiches and pastries make the line up on the breakfast menu followed by sandwich and salad boxes for lunch. While the bakery offers a variety of desserts such as eclairs, they are probably most known for the cakes, such as the red velvet or Italian cream. An enchanting little venue.
